DeWine holds narrow lead

U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine maintains a narrow lead over both of his potential Democratic opponents in this year's race, according to a new survey, but the race remains hotly competitive.
The Republican from Cedarville enjoys an edge of 43 percent to 39 percent over Cincinnati-area lawyer Paul Hackett, and 45 percent to 40 percent over U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown of Lorain. The latest independent poll by Rasmussen Reports surveyed 500 likely voters on Jan. 3.
Rasmussen polls in mid-November and early December found DeWine running neck and neck with both Democratic contenders. In the fall, Hackett led DeWine by a single percentage point, while Brown trailed him by only two. The margin of sampling error in each of the polls is plus or minus 4.5 percentage. points.

All RINOs must be cleansed from the party.

RINO = republican in name only

How is this good considering DeWine (1) is the incumbent since 1995, and (2) has been serving in statewide office for two decades?

Considering DeWine took heat in 2003 for inviting Trent Lott to be his special guest at the DeWine family's annual ice creme social right after Lott praised Strom Thurmond and his segregationist platform, I wonder what the Senator has to say about Judge Alito's membership and active involvement in the Concerned Alumni of Princeton, a group that was always hostile to racial integration on Princeton's campus.

I'm not saying DeWine is hostile to African Americans, but he sure is cozy with segregationist and their apologist! In a state where the African American population is 11.5%, I've got to wonder what this guy is thinking about.

Was the poll of 500 voters all over the state or just in our area? I'd be amazed that Hackett would have a better showing than Brown in any city but here. And speaking of getting rid of RINOs, Hackett is a DINO-Dem in name only.

Hackett a DINO? Why? because he wore this country's uniform? Faught in a war? Salutes the flag?

When will you dems drop your anti-Americanism? It is okay, OK, to love this country and fear God.

Just becuase Hackett took up arms to defend freedom should not mean he cannot be a good democrat.

Until you people realize that loving America is not a bad thing you will continue to lose elections.

While I disagree with Hackett on almost all issues, I don't dispute his patriotism or his desire to honorably serve his country. Things that the modern democrat party (a la John Cranley) do not have the time or inclination for.

Guess what- fighting for your country is terrific but hardly qualifies him to be a U.S. Senator. Why don't you check out his positions on social issues, gun control, and a lot of other issues-then you'll see why he's hardly a Dem.
