Bortz on the Arts

Cincinnati Councilman Chris Bortz was appointed by Vice-Mayor Jim Tarbell to the city's Arts, Culture, Tourism and Marketing Committee. Bortz is a Charterite whose uncle was former Mayor Arn Bortz. At age 32, he is the third youngest member of City Council.

Chris Bortz sure has cozied up to the Montgomery Inn family at the expense of all City of Cincinnati taxpayers. No doubt The Montgomery Inn has named a dining table after him at each of its three Ribs King Restaurants. The Montgomery Inn is thanking Mr. Bortz for the lucrative land deal he provided for them to benefit their multimillion-dollar development on the riverfront called River Crossing (consisting of luxury condominiums, stores, parking facilities and restaurants).

Chris Bortz has engineered a deal where the City of Cincinnati exchanged a very valuable piece of riverfront, City owned property (located behind the Gregory Center Banquet Hall) for a much less valuable piece of Montgomery Inn owned property (located across the street from the Gregory Center Banquet Hall). The deal smells almost fraudulent. Come on news people! ---Check it out! Review the documents on public record and see for yourself. Check out the City Council Website (Council Online) for all the relevant documents pertaining to the Montgomery Inn land deal.

Wouldn't it make sense that this new development with stores and restaurants will draw more people to the Cincinnati-side of the river, thus boosting the money people spend in our downtown instead of over in KY? Maybe Mr. Bortz used his head and saw how the lucrative property known as "The Banks" has sat there for years with nothing being done and saw this as an opportunity to get something moving in the right direction for the city of Cincinnati!
