Pepper maintains his fund-raising lead

Councilman David Pepper has widened his 3-to-1 fund-raising advantage over state Sen. Mark Mallory after the Sept. 13 mayoral primary, according to campaign finance reports filed this afternoon with the Hamilton County Board of Elections.

Pepper has raised a record $921,843 in his bid for mayor. Mallory has raised $275,238, according to the reports.

The figures don't include personal loans each has made to his campaign: $61,000 for Mallory and $35,000 for Pepper.

Let's show Pepper he can't buy Cincinnati. Mallory for Mayor!

So what? He's still going to lose. People have already made up their minds in this election.

Where are the polls? Surely big money bags has done some polling? In the primary, we had several polls by now this close to the elections? Everyone knows Pepper is losing, which is why the Enquirer and other Pepper-supporters are turning up the heat on Mallory with a bunch of nonsense.

David Pepper is NOT READY to be the mayor. He is too immature and divisive.

Every time Mallory gets an endorsement,Pepper disparages the group or individuals. Mallory does not do this when Pepper gets (his few measly) endorsements. If Pepper were in grade school (not a stretch given his immature behavior) his teacher's report would say "does not play well with others". His defense mechanism of going on the attack whenever he doesn't get his own way shows how he would (not) lead Cincinnati.

Greg, If you have time between now and the election it would be interesting to know what the final tally from 3CDC board members would be. The September report indicated $42,000.00 had been given to Pepper for his cooperation on Cincinnati redevelopment. Just curious, I know you are very busy covering City Hall and watching David's commercials.

Pepper has done polls, and he has not leaked the results because the news is not good.

And considering how he blantantly lied to voters yesterday while he was WAIF by saying he wasn't full familiar with what Melva said at the Public Law & Saftey Committe Meeting because he was not at the meeting.

He chairs the committe, I Was there and so was he. He interupted her to tell her to wrap it up, and then thanked her for her comments.

If he is not man enough to own up to the truth...Damn, what kind of Mayor will he be?

David Pepper lacks the maturity to lead Cincinnati through the troubled waters that lie ahead. You cannot build consensus when you get rattled if someone disagrees with your point of view. As Mayor you will always have opposition and vocal critics. If you throw a tantrum when you don't get your way it only makes you look immature, which is how he looks. I do like how he begins to twitch and purse his lips when he gets put on the spot.

David needs to get a job and grow up. Experience is the only teacher. Education is good preparation for experience. The only experience Pepper has is working out back room sweetheart deals for his cronies. Too Bad

I can attest to that.

I was speaking to Pepper one day on the campaign trail and we were discussing an issue. In the midst of our conversation, he got upset because I disagreed with him... on an ISSUE, nothing personal...and he walked away from our conversation. No handshake, no "thank you's". Is this the way to gain votes? NOT!

So then OFC, tell us your REAL name...

My name is Tabatha Anderson. I am standing up to be counted.

David Pepper is a question dodger, he is a hypocrite, he is a bold face liar, and this is not based on what I heard it is based on my dealings ith David Pepper.

My really bad personal experiences with Mr. Pepper started July 2004 and come current through the debate on last evening at the Legacy.

OFC since you want to put names ith statements...This one is mine as well.

I as a citizen and businesswoman in the city of Cincinnati am sick to death of people making broad statements such as David Pepper has been in touch with all 52 neighborhoods. He in each neighborhood has spoken to small business owners and residents. I like hundreds in the Pendleton are have never seen Mr. Pepper doing his political meet and greet.

I have seen Laketa Cole, I have seen Christopher Smitherman, I have seen Senator Mallory, I have seen Damon Lynch, III and even though I don't much care for this one, I have even seen Jim Tarbell. In fact I have done more than just seem them, I have shaken hands with most sat down and discussed my concerns and some have even patronized businesses in our historic neighborhood. Oh by the way I had all this contact in the non-election years, so it wasn't just about my vote!

The questions people don't ask is who is David Pepper visiting in those neighborhoods.

Mr Pepper put up a barricade on East 13th Street in July 2004 which within 5 months or less of the mystery barricades erection (Pepper stated he had no knowledge of the barricade) 4 small businesses were forced to leave. Mr. Pepper never once attempted to connected the businesses before he jeopardized small businesses in the neighborhood, and after it went up, and even when face with peteions containing more than 300 names of people in the Pendleton neighborhhood of all races and economic backgrounds who stated they were not consulted nor informed of the barricade and who demanded it removal immediately.

David Pepper took the side of 4 developers in the area over the citizens and small business owners. Mr. Pepper has stated that he is a freind to small business, but the small business in Pendleton know that that is not the truth. David Pepper said in this campaign many times that he is a concensus builder, but the residents, churches and small businesses in Pendleton say that is not true. I have heard people refer to Mr. Pepper as compassionate, but that is a courtesy he extends to a selec few, just ask Marvin Butts of Mr. Bubbles, The family of Nichole Mechly, Mr. Roger Owensy Sr and his Family or the Mother of Timothy Thomas, or the mother of the 12 year old who was tased at school, better yet ask Mrs. Angela Myrick who's 19 month old baby was murdered by her mentally ill husband.
Ask any of these people, and they will tell you he is anything but compassionate.
How is this to demonstrate his compassion: several mothers of murder victims wanted an anti gang task force to attempt to recude homicides, and Mr. Pepper so smugly stated that "Cincinnati doesn't have gangs", and "It's just criminals killing criminals". How do you think the loved ones of murder victims who were criminals felt, or was that fair to the loved of the ones who were criminals to devalue any life with that type of calous statement.

If as a councilman, he has such a blatant disregard and lack of respect for "CERTAIN" citizens, why would we promote him to Mayor on November 8.

Mallory is the people's choice.

Speaking of Pepper, he may have yet another violation.
here is the law see item #10:

You can find the Ohio Revised code here:
http://codes.ohio.gov/oh/lpExt.dll?f=templates&fn=main-h.htm&cp=PORC

ยง 3517.21. Infiltration of campaign prohibited; false statements.
[snip]
(B) No person, during the course of any campaign for nomination or election to public office or office of a political party, by means of campaign materials, including sample ballots, an advertisement on radio or television or in a newspaper or periodical, a public speech, press release, or otherwise, shall knowingly and with intent to affect the outcome of such campaign do any of the following:
(2) Make a false statement concerning the formal schooling or training completed or attempted by a candidate; a degree, diploma, certificate, scholarship, grant, award, prize, or honor received, earned, or held by a candidate; or the period of time during which a candidate attended any school, college, community technical school, or institution;
...[snip]...
(8) Falsely identify the source of a statement, issue statements under the name of another person without authorization, or falsely state the endorsement of or opposition to a candidate by a person or publication;
...[snip]...
(10) Post, publish, circulate, distribute, or otherwise disseminate a false statement concerning a candidate, either knowing the same to be false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not, if the statement is designed to promote the election, nomination, or defeat of the candidate.
(C) Before a prosecution may commence under this section, a complaint shall be filed with the Ohio elections commission under section 3517.153 [3517.15.3] of the Revised Code. After the complaint is filed, the commission shall proceed in accordance with sections 3517.154 [3517.15.4] to 3517.157 [3517.15.7] of the Revised Code.

HERE ARE THE FACTS:
Senator Mallory publicly announced (immediately following the CPS report card which removed the district from academic watch to continuous improvement), that he would no longer be entertaining the idea of the Mayor taking over CPS.

He has since stated the same in every debate. He has told Mr. Pepper at every public meeting that that legislation has been removed from the table, yet here in October, knowing the legislation for the take over was dead, he did the following:

10) Post, publish, circulate, distribute, or otherwise disseminate a false statement concerning a candidate, either knowing the same to be false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not, if the statement is designed to promote the election, nomination, or defeat of the candidate.

As far as filling a complaint based on the above, the Ohio Elections Commission handles this. They provide the following simplified procedures:

David Pepper the million dollar sell out. He earned the money from Convergy's by sticking it to the taxpayer and over $42,000 from 3CDC doing more of the same. The city will be bankrupt by the time he rewards these investors with even more corporte welfare.Where's the money coming from Greg?
Why does a guy raise a million dollars for a job that pays just over $110,000 a year?

If the above post regarding violations is true, The Take Over ad is wrong. But I thought so because I read the story in the Enquirer about dropping the CPS takeover.

Pepper is a crook and untrustworthy. He is also very arrogant.

Although Mallory has stated that he has shelved the "take over" proposal, he is still touting it on his campaign literature. Mallory will say or do whatever it takes to get elected just like Pepper so lets not pretend that he is some sort of saint. They are both politicians...

David Pepper has used his family's connection to Cincinnati's big money to further his political career. Those who think fundraising isn't everything in politics are foolish. Money is everything. David has it and will WIN the mayor's job. He will then look to further his career beyond Cincinnati and will be successful. Tired of the silver-spoon gang? Get used to it. It starts at the top with President Bush.

David Pepper was born with a silver foot in his mouth. Little Davey Peeper isn't mature enough to run the city. He is only interested in paying back campaign contributors "in kind". Poor pretty white boy has no social skills. Get beyond his rehearsed bullshit and he caves in or starts lying. Do everybody a favor and withdraw all tv commercials and give the money to the poor.

People, can we get past the black candidate/white candidate issue?

I am not voting for David Pepper because of his voting record, because of his inability to be honest with taxpayers, and his unwillingness to be respectful of taxpayers and the real issues.

David Pepper is more plan, apper and talk than action, and I will not vote for that.
