Mallory and Cunningham

Mayor Mark Mallory hopes to set the record straight about his on-air talk Tuesday with Willie Cunningham.

In a letter to the Enquirer editor today, the mayor writes, "Let's be clear, I do not support (Cunningham's) statements." He's referring, of course, to the controversial statements Cunningham made Tuesday in introducing presidential candidate Sen. John McCain at a Cincinnati rally. Cunninham repeatedly called Sen. Barack Obama by his full name - Barack Hussein Obama, angering Obama supporters and drawing a repudiation from McCain.

The confusion came when Mallory went on Cunningham's radio show shortly after the McCain rally. A local television Web site reported that the mayor had called in to the show to support Cunningham's statements. Mallory says he was already scheduled to talk to Cunningham that day - about his support for Obama, whom he endorsed.

In the almost 5-minute conversation, sent to us courtesy of 700WLW -- Cincinnati, Cunningham has to explain to Mallory what had happened that day. Mallory wasn't aware yet.

The host presses Mallory about whether he loves him. Mallory responds: "I love you, Willie Cunningham. Are you crazy?"

He also says he'll "stand with" Willie because Willie has stood with him.

cunningham is the voice of the common man... of the 90s

hes getting a little old and is looking to stir some controversy so someone will listen to his show... i dont think he truly cares about the issues at hand, only that there is a good argument...

he went from the opening speech of R-John McCain's rally, to saying he now supports D-Hillary Clinton all in a couple of hours LOL

If you think they're lame, that's the same as saying you're lame. Just b/c you don't support someone doesn't mean they're lame. No wonder people think the citizens of Cincinnati are ignorant

Wee Willie and Mallory deserve each other. They're of the same ilk. Isn't it nice that black and white, Republican and Democrat, can come together to support a moral and ethical fleecing of Greater Cincinnati residents, all for the goal of feeding their own egos and own notoriety.

Mallory should be organizing a city-wide response to the denegration of more than half of our population - between blacks and whites, and women and men.

Sad, sad, sad

Do Mayor Mallory and Willie agree that the USDOJ owes the Owensby family at least the curtesy of a Letter of Declination, in light of Caton's promotion?

Do they agree that presidential elections and DOJ prosecutions might be linked in some people's minds?

If Obama becomes the nominee for President, you can bet your next Skyline that Wee Willie will be exploiting Obama's "blackness" as the deal breaker next November.

And with WLW on one end of the dial and The Buzz at the other, AM radio will roll about in a sordid racial mudfight that will be secretly enjoyed by many of the locals.

Nothing at all. That's why I'm sure that Willie used John McCain's full legal name when he introduced him. And why he used Rob Portman's full legal name when he appeared on stage. And I'm sure when Mayor Mallory comes on air, he addresses him by his full, legal name. In fact, I am sure that Willie never, ever, ever refers to anyone by anything BUT their full, legal names.

Give it up. Willie didn't get to where he is as a lawyer and a broadcaster by doing anything less than picking his words and rhetoric very, very carefully for very calculated effect. If you really truly believe that Willie was only using Obama's full name by random happenstance, without meaning to insinuate anything about his character or background, you probably also couldn't figure out why your mom punished you for holding your fingers an inch from your little brother's face while taunting "I'm no touching you!"

Just read that they call you a Conservative, Willie Cunning? I am sure, therefore, that you are. But that would be a real compliment - you need to repeat it like a mantra for about a month or three so that you can attempt to not be to overwhelmed with the self-reflection that is bout to ensue once it becomes more apparent to you on a superficial level about how deep your problem is, was and will be unless you get some help.

Conservative, That would be a term used to describe something, what we know they, at least call civil, not a lunatic, hater, fake, superegomaniac feigning innocence directly inferring that your own audience are idiots. And I say this out of love, as truth is shared - with the hope that refletiong/thought will lead to some healing for yourself. This i written in perfect calm. I have never before being so inspired to spend my most invaluable time to reach out and help another human being, that I do not know at all, given how they have hurt so many people, just by association. Association to the city of Cincinnati, to WLW, your company, to the state of OH, to the United States, to our founding fathers, to Channel 48, to the Crosely family where would the list stop……here, the Human Race. How low can a human go in such a public eye, yet? Unbelievable, reminiscent of a younger than young child, or no, an adult in need of some true care; such an out-of-control tirade but to say that, only, is to give a certain level of credibility to your behaviour, your words, your demeanor, your entire scope of activity that it just does not deserve during your introductin and departure the night you introduced McCain. Are you detoxing from opiates? Or were you joenzing for some? Xavier University may call and ask you to remove that shirt as some might just think that it is an XU sweater; embarrassed about a 'never to be forgotten' assault on their good name.

What an ignorant move, not just one word or one thing, the whole thing, the tone, the stand, the posture, the, the, the everything. Here is an example, not only the words you spoke but to say such a thing as "what's wrong with using a person's middle name" and then to go on and on and on about it as though you are really acting like you don't know what you are doing/ saying. Now to play that silly, childish game amongst a few close drunken friends in a moment of stupidity is one thing but to act like that and speak like that in front of your own audience; including them by inferring that they shouldn't think that there is anything wrong with using someone's middle name. Weather they care or not is not the point, you insulted their intelligence by assuming that your sarcastic, dry humor would be taken seriously by them, even. One way amongst many was by acting like you were saying that "no one would think that using a middle name is wrong". I mean, even the people who would be your greatest supporters must have thought that you were dissing them a bit. You just showed utter stupidity; even a rude, ignorant kid could not have so masterfully handled that level of insanity, that depth of stupidity, that sheer absolute example of what the worse in people can be. The great truth here is that it is demonstrative of the depths that we can, as humans, as marred vessels - marred in the Potters Hands - can reach. It was a level on the grade of a Hitler or a Mao; the greatest killer of all time 60m Chinese but you were much more inventive, yet more cowardly, for as to have reached that level of ………..?.............without actually killing anyone was truly artistic genius. It was so low on so many levels to so many people in so many ways, it was a true work of inspired nuts.

And, Willie, understand I never write to people I don't know so personally, nor do I ever write letters like this. I put off politics at 20 after beating the value of social systems to death by debate, discussion, discourse and dialectics as a passionate political science student. I gave it up for the pursuit of what is 'best' for each individual to do or to think in order to have the best life possible and to best effect the lives of others. The choice in life was to focus in on what I could become so that I might have the best effect on the people in my immediate surroundings; the people who I would truly impact in a personal life, living, breathing, working with them way as opposed to trying to determine what idealistic system or 'dream of a person' I could represent for some broader cause. Writing This letter is a real divergence from who I am and what I do. You were that inspiring. I thought first to contact you, then the owners of the stations, then your sponsors……………..you know, where the money is. It was the first time where I actually had the thought of not buying the products from the companies that supported the station that allows you to spend time with people.

I suggest a rest or to ask XML to dispel you publicly forever or for an extended period, some real clear message that WLW recognizes what this world and the next would recognize as the epitome of what we need Gods' help for in our marred condition.

maybe if you read this on the air…….or maybe you should have someone else read it for you as it might come off better that way, well, best yet, you read it, then print it, then have someone else read it also - on the air, that way it should communicate to the world that you insulted, hurt, belittled, degraded.

What is servant leadership then study it after doing your best for the rest of your life to build a relationship with God outside of organized religion……………you know the kind where they own buildings, where they would, then, have cash flow, therefore being in the business of religion…………….you certainly don't need any more truth that might have an agenda connected to fame, status, position, reputation or money…………..you need some real monk experience………….which can be had at home.

Oh, yea, and then you stormed off for these 'things' that you had to do……………..look up in the dictionary under upchuckself-righteousnessextravaganza………oh, my goodness, the old cliché of adding insult to injury has just lost all of it's meaning by, then, attacking McCain for doing what he had no choice but to do; most embarrassingly had to do………….

.you believe in extraterrestrial beings - aliens. Do you?

You have to be on a roll a big old roll ……..out of here. If this doesn't cost your station more money than you could ever, singlehandedly represent……even if it takes the form of some multi-generational curse…………….this error is not only historical it is mystical.

You/he likes this kind of attention.

The only thing worse than our mayor standing with Willie Cunningham is his failure to support a school levy in a city with such a high level of poverty. How can he say that he supports Obama because of his strong plan for urban cities and then not support a school levy in a district where 65% of the kids come from families below the federal poverty line! Our mayor is WEAK and self-interested. If this levy goes down, I wonder how he will sleep at night knowing what he could have done to save the future of Cincinnati children whose only way out of poverty is a good education. Shame on you, Mark Mallory!

Anonymous has a good point that any human being would recognize as legitimate unless blinded by their own political identity, passions of righteouness.....well, or by any one of the self-blinding strategies available.....but it really was a very mild mannered respectful response to this willie guys' behaviour. I have never seen such........a person would have to be an adult, with some experience to reach lower than what a child, a silly child, a rude child could go. His total being was possesses, seemingly by a most indignant spirit, crying out for release from the bondage of irrational confusion born of an unconscious habit of belittling people, starting arguments, causing controversy at the first chance of every opportunity well seasoned, over and above any sense for care, love, hope, mercy, understanding, wisdom or any of the traits available for people to enjoy.........he must be a sad person, hidden only by the depth of that same passion to accept the possession that he is under.

I hope he heals......for love is born out of a loosing a life, not out of continuing to grow the one in which he was born..that one that crys for every bit of attention it can gather.

As I read the comments above, I wonder how much longer will some think only in black and white. Racists and bigots come in all colors and the proof is in comments above. Will this problem ever end? Will America ever achieve melting pot and throw away this stupid idea of diversity. Diversity separates us into dangerous divisions.

Could one of the P. C. cops, please tell the American people what is wrong with telling the truth? And why isn't Obama proud of his name? Whether its a muslim brotherhood {CAIR}front group, or George Soros's bought and paid for DNC or "PEACE CANDIDATE" I will gladly listen to WILLY any day over some hack P. Anyone know McCain's middle name? Anyone using it when referring to him? No, didn't think so.

The issue is that you've got those out there that use his middle name as a context for fear. Hussien doesn't have the best connotation in this country, and by insinuation they play on your doubts that this man could lead our country. It's a free country, you can say what you want but this sounds like bs to me.

Amazingly, after a year of campaigning this is all they've got. Fear. It's sad, really. Scare up the votes using BO's middle name, Hussien. or the Tim's people.

Obama is head and shoulders above the field and its obvious. The opposition is pulling at straws, throwing all the mud they can to see if it it'll stick. Don't believe the crap, this guy is for real.

Anon 4:44- you realize Willie's joking about supporting Clinton, right? That he's mocking Ann Coulter's statement about her?

Mallory's either the worst liar in the world for saying he wasn't calling about the Hussein kerfluffle, or an idiot for claiming he was unaware of it.

I have never heard Mallory call the show before, scheduled or otherwise, and for him to do so without his staff having advised him of what was going on is either unimaginable or incompetent.

Still: Mallory absolutely did not "support" Cunningham or his statements during the conversation.

Cunninghqam has repeatedly used a middle name or fake middle name to either insult or elevate a person.

He called McCain, John "Juan Pablo" McCain repeatedly. Was that meant to uplift or degrade. The context and intent of Wee Willy Cunning-Ham use of Husseim was proven within context and in his past references actually calling a Christian man a Muslim and "Muhammad Hussein Obama.

But the final proof of the racist and religious assault is from Wee Willie's big mouth -- his continual denial of meaning what he said.

I think he doth protest too much.

In other words, he's a liar

Can we move up the conventions to May, the election to june, and the inauguration to July, so that we will have 6 less months of ruinous economic policies, illegal wars, and general NeoClown incompetence and self-enrichment? And 6 more months of creating positive change and undoing all the damage of the past 7+ years? Maybe with people in office who weren't bought off by the oil companies we could get gas back below $2/gallon this summer?

Can all of you Repug-Bots on here do me a favor and google "Don Siegelman" and "60 Minutes?"

If you still want to defend Bush after reading any one of those news stories, you seriosuly need to have your head examined.

Karl Rove used the U.S. Attorneys in Alabama to create a trumped-up prosecution of a Democratic former Governor for no toerh reason than he could. He used low-level operatives, no doubt wowed by the White House's calling them to help their party, to dig dirt on Siegelman, then disavowed having anything to do with it. He used political hack judges to lock up this guy for no other crime than GWD- Governing While Democrat.

Disgusting. Another Repug trampling on the Constitution.

I am sure that either Clinton or Obama will follow the Constitution, but I hope they use the same level of respect for the Constitution when investigating the Repugnicants that the Repugs had for it when they were in control.

Question: how do we repatriate or Constitution? Do we hold some kind of ceremony, hold a re-vote of the Constitution and all its Amendments (watching the Repugs squirm on National TV and pretend to support it will be hilarious)? Do we have a national celebration on the Mall? Do we need to involve the Supreme Court somehow?

We will be making history, that's for sure.

The Siegelman story is classic Bush/Cheney/Rove disregard for the law & the Constitution.
It's mind-boggling that people still support this Administration.
