The Mayor goes to Jerusalem

Jane Prendergast has the story here

Here's the top of the press release:

Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory is one of six U.S. mayors who will travel to Israel next week for the 25th Annual Jerusalem Conference of Mayors hosted by Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski.

Mayor Mallory was selected by The U.S. Conference of Mayors to represent the conference as part of the delegation. Mayor Mallory is participating in the delegation as part of his on-going strategy to increase Cincinnati’s international profile and recruit new business investment and jobs to Cincinnati.

The meeting is sponsored by the American Jewish Congress-Council for World Jewry, which is covering the costs of the mayors’ participation, and The U.S. Conference of Mayors, and is conducted in cooperation with Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“I am honored for the opportunity to represent Cincinnati at that prestigious gathering of International Mayors,” Mayor Mallory said. “Cincinnati has a great story to tell, and the best way to tell it is to take it directly to the world. By building relationships around the world, we increase Cincinnati’s global presence both economically and culturally.”

You know, I enjoy the announcements of the Mayor's international itineraries. I truly do.

This hogwash will be brought up during the Budget Hearings later in the year.

This jetting off to here & there isn't bringing a drop of business to this city. Not a single bit. But somehow, the money is being located for this Mayor to fly luxury class, at the last minute, at a premium full fare, but for some reason, the Hatchetman, Dohoney, wanted to throw hundreds of City Retirees under the lush budget bus.

BTW, where is that City Solicitor jetting off to these days on vacation, "but it's not actually vacation because I can be reached by cell & pager at all times"?

Perhaps you could get her itineraries as well & publish them. Thanks for this juicy information, as it's going to help at the annual Budget fights.

Read the post, buddy - $0 city dollars spent on this. I'm glad to have a Mayor that understands that Cincinnati is part of a larger world.

Anon 7:02, the funding might not be out of the City's budget, but the money came from someone's coffers.

I'm so glad you think you have a Mayor who understands that Cincinnati is part of a larger world. It would be splendid if this Mayor brought world money into Cincinnati. Then I think many more people would agree his frequent flying was paying huge dividends for the city at large. So far, this flying off hasn't reaped reward one.

A waste of time. A waste of everyones dollars.

Is Scotty going too? Can he take his gun on the plane?

Our foot-tapping bold typist may have gone along on the trip with Little Jeffre at his side!

This guy is a complete joke. He traveled around the globe, and what do we have to show for it? He went to Vegas, spent thousands of city dollars, and has anyone seen one new piece of retail from it?

And, then there is Scotty. Pools close and Scotty will cost taxpayers enough to keep them open a week.

And such a big deal about the removing metal detectors! It has never been more difficult or intrusive to get in city hall.

Just cite one thing he has accomplished...He called the new Square a waste of money, but now is bragging about how "hot" Cincinnati is.

Obviously, I work at city hall and see this crap all the time.

Help Enquirer....let's hear a little truth!!!

Just think: Mayor Zero does not need to be bothered with silly questions about The Banks or the jail tax or any other piece of city business he does not understand...what an escape.

The blogger who wrote that he is getting out of town to avoid the issues hit the nail on the head....Mallory does not understand the issues, much less what to do about them, so he leaves. (Eventho The Enquirer won't ask him anyway).

Imagine what they (Enquirer)would do to Luken or Qualls if they had Scotty in tow all over town...

Mayor Mark's shoes never seem to touch the ground. Can't he just float across the Atlantic on his own?
