Ohio superdelegate endorses Obama

Read Howard Wilkinson and Pat Crowley's story on superdelegates here

From the Obama campaign today:

CLEVELAND, OH – Sonny Nardi, President of Teamsters’ Local 416, today endorsed Barack Obama for President, citing his 20-year record of standing up to special interests and fighting for economic fairness.

“Barack Obama began his career in public service helping to restore opportunity to a community that was devastated by a steel plant closing, and he has been fighting for economic fairness ever since,” said Nardi.

“The American Dream is getting out of reach for too many working families in Ohio, and we need a President who has stood up to special interests and fought for the middle class throughout their career. Barack Obama believes that unfair trade agreements like NAFTA were the wrong policies for American workers, and he has proposed the Patriot Employers Act which would end tax breaks for corporations that outsource American jobs and encourage corporations to create good-paying jobs here in Ohio. He passed legislation that reduced the grip of corporate lobbyists over the legislative process, expanded health care coverage to 150,000 thousand Illinois residents, and opposed the bankruptcy bill which has made it harder for many Ohioans to climb their way out of debt.”

Before you jump on the Obama bandwagon, check out his ties with Tony Rezko on the internet. You can bet, the republicans will find this stuff very interesting.

Leadership like this is the reason why unions are dwindling and jobs are leaving. God help us. Fortunately most drivers do not follow the union "leaders" when it comes to elections.

"citing his 20-year record of standing up to special interests..." Depending on your definition of special interest, that statement seems like a stretch to me. During the eight years Obama was in the Illinois senate, 1996-2004, just about 2/3 of money raised for campaigns came from unions, corporate contributions, PAC's. $296,000 of the total $461,000 raised for campaigns. Dollars from service firms, real estate developers, healthcare providers, oil companies, etc.(Records per Illinois Board of Election) Obamas US Senate campaign, 2004 collected $128,000 from lobbyist, and PAC's $1.3 million. In the 2005-2006 election cycle he took $115,000 from 56 PAC's. "Obama then used those PAC contributions -- including thousands from defense contractors, law firms, and the securities and insurance industries -- to build support for his presidential run by making donations to Democratic Party organizations and candidates around the country." http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/08/09/pacs_and_lobbyists_aided_obamas_rise/

Some muslin from the bam-eeee camp must know where to find Hoffa ?

Somewhere in Cook County, IL ?

Let's take each Illinois government currently under federal investigation, starting with the Illinois state government and Obama's nearly two-decade relationship with the man who has come to epitomize pay-to-play politics in Illinois, the now-indicted Rezko. As recently as 2005, Obama partnered with Rezko to purchase his million-dollar home, although it was widely reported that Rezko was the target of U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation. Under the deal with Rezko, Obama paid $300,000 less than the asking price for his home, while Rezko's wife paid full price for the vacant lot next door, only to turn around and sell Obama part of that lot a few months later. While Obama dismissed the deal as a "boneheaded mistake", this is an odd explanation for someone trumpeting judgment over experience. Even giving Obama the benefit of the doubt on the land deal, he is unable to explain how as a champion of the poor, he remained ignorant for years to the fact that Rezko was one of the largest slumlords in Chicago, including within Obama's own district, and although the law firm for which he was an attorney had helped Rezko secure more than $43 million in government funding for his apartment buildings. Given this questionable history with Rezko, one would hope (there's that word again) that Obama might support the legislation banning pay-to-play politics in Illinois. Such legislation overwhelming passed in the Illinois House, but Obama's self-described "political godfather", Emil Jones, inexplicably refuses to bring the legislation to vote in the Illinois Senate ... and Obama has remained silent."

PATHETIC Phony King Imitator !

BFD, a Teamster endorsed the candidate the Teamsters endorsed- this is a news flash? Almost as surprising as polls that state that the black vote is going to the (half) black candidate
In a campaign year where so much doesn't make it into the papers, leave it to the Enquirer to have a political blog called Politics Extra which is really just "stuff we're recycling or that's in our paper tomorrow"

Russ Feingold expressed high regard for New York Senator Hillary Clinton, with whom he has clashed in the past. But he spoke at great length about having worked with Obama on ethics legislation in the Senate, and hailed the Illinois senator's ability to judge people and hold firm against pressure from interest groups and party insiders.

Obama is a candidate of depth and consistency:
1. His speech on war in 2002 - shockingly prophetic
http://www.digg.com/politics/Full_text_of_Barack_Obama_s_2002_Speech_Against_the_Iraq_War
Once the war started, he did vote to support the troops but in no way is this a support for the war
2. De-escalation speech 2007

3. Detailed ECONOMY speech to Wisconsin auto-workers

What's the point of supporting Obama because he opposed NAFTA? Does this guy expect NAFTA to be repealed?

Just like all the right-wing nut jobs thought their hero Ken Blackwell was somehow different, the lefties are going to learn the hard way that Barry can give a great speech but everything else he does makes him no different than any other hack politician. Getting Obama in there is the worst thing that could happen to the American Left. When Obama crashes and burn, the Left is going to become more angry and disillusioned than they are now.

I want either Senator Obama or Senator Clinton to tell us how and when they plan to ask for their Attorney General or a special prosecutor invgestigate the Repugnicant party as a a corrupt organization. If so, do they believe a RICO prosecution is justified, given the illegal war and the ever-growing number of its officials at all levels coast to coast who have been convicted of various fraud and corruption crimes and sex offenses against children.

By John Solomon and Matthew Mosk Washington Post Staff Writers Saturday, September 8, 2007; Page A01

When Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton flew to New Delhi to meet with Indian business leaders in 2005, she offered a blunt assessment of the loss of American jobs across the Pacific. "There is no way to legislate against reality," she declared. "Outsourcing will continue. . . . We are not against all outsourcing; we are not in favor of putting up fences."

The two speeches delivered continents apart highlight the delicate balance the senator from New York, a dedicated free-trader, is seeking to maintain as she courts two competing constituencies: wealthy Indian immigrants who have pledged to donate and raise as much as $5 million for her 2008 campaign and powerful American labor unions that are crucial to any Democratic primary victory.

Despite aggressive courtship by Democratic candidates, major unions such as the AFL-CIO, the Teamsters and the Service Employees International Union have withheld their endorsements as they scrutinize the candidates' records and solicit views on a variety of issues.

Facing a cool reception, Clinton and her advisers have used closed-door meetings with labor leaders in recent months to explain her past ties to Indian companies, donors and policies. Aides have highlighted her efforts to retrain displaced workers and to end offshore tax breaks that reward companies that outsource jobs.

But the Clinton camp has been pressed by labor leaders on her support for expanding temporary U.S. work visas that often go to Indians who get jobs in the United States, and it has been queried about the help she gave a major Indian company to gain a foothold in New York state. That company now outsources most of its work to India.

Clinton declined repeated requests for an interview about her views on outsourcing. Her campaign advisers, however, say she believes there are no inconsistencies in the comments she has made here and in India or in her actions as a senator.

Both Clintons made repeated trips to India -- visits that continued during Hillary Clinton's tenure in the Senate. Between them, Bill and Hillary Clinton have made eight visits to India since 2001, and many more to Indian American groups in the United States.

As a senator, Clinton has repeatedly supported that program and backs raising the cap for annual visas from the current 65,000 to 115,000.

Did Hillary Clinton Really Support NAFTA? Aides, Biographers Say No

As the 2008 campaign shifts to economically hard-hit states like Ohio, so too do the topics of political debate. This week, Sen. Barack Obama's campaign has attacked Sen. Hillary Clinton on trade, arguing that she was once a supporter of the North American Free Trade Agreement that contributed to the loss hundreds of thousands of American jobs.
"A little more than a year ago," an Obama mailer reads, "Hillary Clinton thought NAFTA was a 'boon' to the economy." The piece goes on to argue that the New York Senator is "changing her tune" now that she's campaigning in the Buckeye State.
The attack is, most observers say, misleading. The "boon" line, a paraphrase lifted from a September 2006 Newsday article, has yet to be confirmed as an authentic quote. But, more importantly, the mailer misrepresents what former Clinton administration officials and biographers say was Hillary Clinton's long-held opposition to the legislation.

Hillary Clinton Is a Politician Groundbreaking stuff. Who isn't in this campaign? I hope and pray that all see the danger in endorsing a candidate with Muslim upbringing who is on record as saying that he would favor a nuclear strike against Pakistan. The young adults of this nation need to ask themselves if nuclear war is change that they can live with. It wouldn't be the first time Obama has said, "I pushed the wrong button." I can bet that if it happens one woill be hard pressed to find anyone that would admit to voting for change...

Obama’s efforts to connect to the Republican Party, specifically Bush, and Dick Chaney, of the Halliburton Company, dates back to the Presidents Grandfather, Prescott Bush, and indeed Chaney was once an executive officer of Halliburton.

The American military pounds Iraq with Artillary, bombs, and the like, destroying large sections of cities, and infra-structures, then Halliburton comes in to rebuild. Halliburton and Halliburton associated companies have raked in ten’s of billions.

Obama is just like the BIG HALIBURTAN. Haliburton has contracted to build detention centers in the U.S. similiar to the one in Quantanammo Bay, Cuba. Halliburton does nothing to earn the Two Dollars for each meal an American Serviceman in Iraq eats.

http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/

Halliburton was scheduled to take control of the Dubai Ports in The United Arab Emiirate. The deal was canceled when Bush was unable to affect the transfer of the American Ports.

Now we see what some might suspect as similiar financial escapading from the Democrats.

Two years ago, Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity gave a $50 million contract to a start-up security company - Companion- owned by now-indicted businessman (TONY REZKO) Tony Rezko and a onetime Chicago cop, Daniel T. Frawley, to train Iraqi power-plant guards in the United States. An Iraqi leadership change left the deal in limbo. Now the company, Companion Security, is working to revive its contract.
Involved along with Antoin “Tony” Rezco, long time friend and neighbor of Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama, and former cop Daniel T. Frawley, is Aiham Alsammarae. Alsammarae was accused of financial corruption by Iraqi authorities and jailed in Iraq last year before escaping and returning here.

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON --
Obama should be vetted and disclose his connection to the criminal money generating underworld. Besides, his connections to the REZCO MAFIA types, his up-coming tax fraud charges — Obama needs to disclose why he is a MUSLIM "PATWANG-FWEEE" and stop suppoting our intervention in IRAQ. It’s time to introduce this false, fake Xerox - X box Obama and invite the self-indicting thief plagiarizing pipsqueke "GLORK" Xerox - X box to meet the Buffalo "GAZOWNT-GAZIKKA" Police Department Buffalo Creek. The face had drifted through American pictography for decades before being claimed by Mad editor Harvey Kurtzman after he spotted it on the bulletin board in the office of Ballantine Books editor Bernard Shir-Cliff, later a contributor to various magazines created by Kurtzman.
